Acts #40: The Church Empowered "Theology Matters " (Acts 14:8-23)
- If your theology is that only super talented people or “apostles” like Paul and Barnabas are the “real leaders” you don’t appoint elders - at least not with any authority.
- If your theology is that you should stick to the script when you plan out sermons, you won’t even allow for “unplanned” healings like this.
- If your theology is that there is more than one god, well… you’re lost.
- If your theology is that God has ceased giving sign gifts to believers, you’ll read stories like this and NOT apply them to your life or the church today.
- If your theology is that deep-seeded cultures are not worth the life-risking effort to preach the gospel, you’re disobedient.
- If your theology is that God’s word sometimes does indeed fall on deaf ears, you run the danger of becoming cynical and witnessing a lot less often.
- If your theology is that persecution like the stoning of Paul isn’t happening still today to Christians around the globe, you’re blind and stubborn.
- And if your theology is that it’s foolish to return to places and people that rejected you so badly they tried to kill you, you’ve missed the LOVE of Jesus altogether.
