Let me pause to explain two things here…

• 1) Abram was called out by God and was the first Hebrew man, and his wife Sarai the first Hebrew woman.
  • Every person born from Abraham and Sarai were thereby God’s chosen people.
• 2) “Righteousness”…
  • To be righteous in God’s estimation is to be at peace with him. 
    • No sin is counted against you. God sees it not. 
    • This counting of righteousness by God to Abraham is to render Him as God does with US, post Cross - who place our faith in Jesus for salvation.
  • God counts us righteous by our faith.
  • God does the same HERE. 
    • He counts Abraham righteous/justified by God, because He believed God.
• And because of this faith, God then confirms what He intends to do with Abraham, saying in v7, “I am the LORD who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
