Philippians #14: Joy in Jesus--"Unity, Part 6: Celebrating the Incarnation" Phil. 2:5-8

So, back to our text, specifically v7:

    • He emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
      • The problem with living 2000 years after this event is that we simply fall WAY short of its absurdity!
  • Luke 2:7, And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
    • What God would do this? And why?
    • If anything is truly God, He is so high above us, WHY would He subject Himself to weak, painful, frail humanity?
    • Why would He “empty himself” - and what does that actually mean?
    • He owns it all! He needs nothing! He certainly doesn’t “need” humans! We are but ants compared to His majesty - what possible reason would compel him to empty himself and become human?
