Philippians #15: Joy in Jesus--"Jesus Christ is Lord!" Phil. 2:8-11

Philippians 2:8-11

  • And being found in human form, (Jesus) humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (9) Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, (10) so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (11) and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

"Therefore God has highly exalted him…”

  • First, this is not the only “therefore” in Paul’s contextual train of thought.
    • Verse 12 has a “therefore” that is tied directly to this first “therefore”
    • I considered calling this message “Part 1” but I really don’t want you to miss this title, that Jesus Christ is… LORD.
  • v9’s “therefore” is about Jesus:
    • Because Jesus humbled Himself, obeyed, and finished the work of the Cross (His ultimate purpose for the Incarnation), God highly exalted Him.
