The Holy Spirit Throughout History #47: "The Spirit of Listening" -- Revelation
“He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (x7)
- Today we get to study the Spirit’s letters to the 7 churches in the book of Revelation.
- Clearly, the key and stand-out answer to the question we ask each Sunday this year (Where is the Holy Spirit in this book?) is in the first 2 chapters.
- The Holy Spirit is mentioned 15 times in Revelation.
- 7 of those times are with this exact phrase on the screen.
- The other 8 are ALL in reference to John saying it is the Spirit speaking - the Spirit of Jesus Christ - delivering this message to the saints through him - John - the Revelator.
- This book is called “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
- It is not RevelationS. Don’t get me started… There are not multiple revelations… there is ONE: His name is Jesus. He is what (who) is REVEALED to Jon in this book. Everybody say “REVELATION.”
- Please don’t say “Revelations” ever again. Thank you.
